Why I Believe in Transformational Travel and How At Home in This World Began
I’ve always believed that travel is the ultimate teacher.
My first international trip to India at age 15 opened my eyes to the beauty of difference: cultures, rhythms, and ways of thinking. Years later, while studying abroad at Oxford, I spent weekends hopping from one European city to the next, falling in love with history, language, architecture, and the kind of immersive travel experiences that quietly change you.
In 2015, I left the corporate world to homeschool my three kids and turn the world into their classroom. It was one of the most meaningful pivots of my life. From walking ancient Roman roads in Italy to exploring art museums in Paris, travel became our greatest teacher. We learned history, culture, science, and storytelling through lived experience. In Iceland, we wandered landscapes that inspired Norse myths and folktales, connecting literature to place in ways no textbook could.
That passion for transformational travel soon turned into something more.
While planning immersive, educational trips for my own family, I began working with a luxury travel advisor to help manage logistics and secure exclusive perks, especially for international itineraries and multi-destination family vacations. She showed me the value of having a professional partner in travel: smarter routing, better hotel rates, insider experiences, and access to amenities I didn’t even know existed (hello, Virtuoso upgrades).
The more trips I planned with her, the more I knew this was what I wanted to do.
My first itinerary for a client was a meaningful Washington, D.C. trip for a couple who hadn’t traveled much before. From museums to monuments to local food stops, I created a journey that made them feel confident, prepared, and inspired. I was hooked.
That’s how At Home in This World began.
Today, I bring the structure, clarity, and problem-solving skills from my corporate career into every custom travel itinerary I design. Whether it’s a simple hotel booking or a multi-country international journey, I approach travel like a puzzle: understanding your needs, solving problems before they arise, and crafting seamless, enriching trips that feel both effortless and elevated.
To me, luxury travel isn’t only about five-star hotels (though I do love icons like Four Seasons Hualalai, Mandarin Oriental Lake Como, and Rosewood Mayakoba). It’s about creating experiences that feel intuitive, meaningful, and completely stress-free. It’s knowing your private airport transfer is waiting, your boutique hotel is ready with a glass of bubbly, and your skip-the-line museum tour is confirmed.
Luxury is in the details: a seamless itinerary, trusted local guides, immersive culinary experiences, and access to exclusive perks that elevate every moment. Whether you’re dreaming of a multi-city European vacation, a family-friendly cultural tour, or a romantic getaway, true luxury is feeling fully present because every detail has already been handled with care.
My goal is simple: to help you feel at home in this world—curious, confident, and free to focus on what matters most: the experience itself.
